The Chicago White Sox have announced their on-field player development staff for next season, which includes former major-league players Chris Chambliss, Ron Oester and Olmedo Saenz.
In 2009, Chambliss, who played in the majors for 17 season, will see his first season as manager of Class AAA Charlotte. He spent the last two seasons in the Atlanta organization as a hitting coach and manager. He also served as a major-league hitting coach with Cincinnati and the New York Yankees.
Oester, who played 13 seasons with the Reds, will serve as the organizations infield instructor after working in the Cincinnati organization from 1991-01 and again in 2004.
Saenz begins his first season as the hitting coach with Rookie Great Falls. He hit .263 in 733 major-league games with the White Sox, Oakland and Los Angeles Dodgers.
