Blackhawks Look to Prevent Detroit from Setting Record

The Detroit Red Wings try to do something they have never done in the history of the franchise on Sunday when they face the Chicago Blackhawks.

Entering the contest, Detroit has won nine consecutive games and a win on Sunday would give them a franchise record 10-straight victories.

The Red Wings have won nine straight games seven times in their storied history - including each of the last two seasons.

The Blackhawks, who enter the game on a winning streak of their own, won their second straight game 4-2 against the St. Louis Blues on Friday. Chicago capitalized on special teams, scoring twice on the power-play and once shorthanded.

The Blackhawks have been terrific on the special teams all season, ranking seventh in the NHL when skating with a man-advantage while scoring a league-high five shorthanded goals.
